I recently applied for a position of writing a biography for a New York artist. In my personal experience, one must cater to the needs of the job. Copywriting is exacting like acting….except through words. If I were interested in receiving a project from SmithBarney, words like “hot” or “urging” would not even float over the pages of my cover letter. Yet, the man below is an artist, he needs to know that who he works with is capable of understanding his lifestyle. That is, essentially, what we as copywriters do, we mold out words to linguistically imitate whatever our topic / focus. Remember, what you write is the truth, enhanced with appealing personality.

So, I read you need a Bio for yourself? Let me just say that I can put tears in their eyes, beats in their ears, and love in their hearts; and all for you! You tell me what you want them to feel and know, and I will do the rest. Your image is what you are known for in the music industry so why not burn that image into their cerebrum.
The key to writing an effective biography is to appeal to both the laid back trend-setting listener and the intellectual conservatives. Is it possible to fuse the two? Well…
Rising up the rhythmic ladder are the crisp sounds of today’s equivalent to Maurice Ravel. His emotionally enlaced sound leaves the listener urging for more. Self taught with the records left in his attic by his late grandfather, this natural born talent put him through college funded entirely by the money he earned spinning in the local club scene.
