A RECENT PROJECT CHALLENGE: A Little About Me

The young enthusiastic child plays roles she one day hopes to win
Relentless practicing yet all the while, she’s stalling to begin.
She’s confident her talents flow as streams, evolving into sea
Yet she’s aware most masters’ fear, that age reflects maturity.
And so she takes in trembling hands her knowledge and her nerve,
Regardless of what lies ahead, she vows her passion she’ll preserve.

Ode to the Cigarette

The following is a journal submission made by to in my Freshman year of college English 101 class. At the time I was attending an acting conservatory…

To me, a cigarette is the worlds best companion. A cigarette never does you wrong. It always listens and understands. It never has a problem when you smoke other brands of cigarettes. It completely understands the “open relationship” arrangement. It never gets mean or jealous, and when you come back to it, it will still taste just as good. Unlike other types of relationships, where when you come back, the other person is cold and harsh, a cigarette always listens to everything I need to say and never tells me that it’s not interested or doesn’t care. I believe that everyone should have such a companion. Nothing else will keep you warm on cold night or accompany you when you are having a bad day. It will never leave you alone and when you are done with it, there is another one just like it waiting for you to do with it what you please.

Happy Birthday Tammy

This is dedicated to my friend Tammy, who’s birthday is today. She received this yesterday.

As a stream flows over the rocky earth

Winding and wheeling in and out and around the grooves of its companion

Such is the lives of Tamara Rothmann and Rena Prizant

Though at times they part for experimentation of other lives as water parts with ground for evaporation,

The two will inevitably return thus is the course of nature.

Thus is fate.

*  *  *  *  *

The two women are entwined by a power beyond that of will.

From a sharing of “misunderstood post-immigrant mother” syndrome to the premature loss of their male offspring’s.

If family were defined in terms of affection, then these two would resemble an image of something similar to the lost Gemini twins

And though the two experience rocky and sometimes clouded terrain,

The stream and earth are forever bound in history.

I love you darling.
