The young enthusiastic child plays roles she one day hopes to win
Relentless practicing yet all the while, she’s stalling to begin.
She’s confident her talents flow as streams, evolving into sea
Yet she’s aware most masters’ fear, that age reflects maturity.
And so she takes in trembling hands her knowledge and her nerve,
Regardless of what lies ahead, she vows her passion she’ll preserve.

Newsletters, Spell Check and You
Ever since computers became the main source for submitting / replaying / transferring / sharing information, we have been reminded by all to spell-check a document before sending it. I cannot stress the importance of this enough. I was reading a newsletter from seo-news.com this morning and the cover article had blatant spelling errors all throughout the text. This newsletter is sent out to hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals online; not to mention the countless individuals who access the articles directly from the website.
With modern technology, there is no excuse for misspelling, none. Not for me, or you, or anyone. Personally, I feel that it makes a mockery of the written piece. I cannot take seriously the individual who wrote the article I read this morning. She doesn’t even care enough to make sure her text is correct, why the hell should I care what she’s saying? That may be harsh, but it’s true. Though we don’t fess up to it, carelessness is associated by our subconscious as discredit. Consider when someone misspells your name, though you may publicly say that it’s no problem, inside you feel as though the “miss-speller” didn’t even care enough to learn how to spell your name.
On a grander scale, looking at the situation from a less personal relationship status than between you and the accused, think about the mailings we all get delivered to our house. Company’s sell name and address lists to buyers. I still receive invitations for audition for Miss Teen America addressed to a Rachael Prizant.
Spell-check.
The Connotation of My Creation
Before there is a beginning, one must begin. Thus…I begin.
This is it. I have conformed. I have submitted myself to the trend and publicly published my brain online. Here it is. Doesn’t seem like it lives up to its title, does it? Well, give it time. I have only been birthed into the virtual diary swim-hole and thus must be given the proper “sink or swim” time.
To clarify, or explain, depending on how much you’ve thought about it or how far that’s gotten you; the name you see at the top of this page is not just one of rhyme. It is also one of meaning. I thought long and hard about the title of this “splurge” I knew that if I wanted a professional face, I needed a professional name. I also knew that this being a “splurge” it would have to resemble something of my personality. So I combined my two favorite things (words and rhymes), and “Savant Prizant” was born.
The following will be an explanation of the name (for those who haven’t already figured out its meaning). If you accept / understand / could care less about my reasoning, then by all mean, consider the previous paragraph to be the ending one and enjoy!
“Savant,” by definition, is a person of profound or extensive learning; learned scholar. “Prizant,” by definition, is my family. Origin explained. Okay, in all seriousness, I am a big fan of wordplay (though fail miserably at riddles). I’ve written, read, and typed with, and about…words. Thus, it is only natural for me, when choosing a professional form of expression, to do it with words.
I had a difficult time deciding on a name for my splurge. I wanted intelligence to show through in the title, but at the same time have it mean something. I wanted something that was funky, but intriguing enough to spark curiosity. My other choice, and a name I’ve used for many other projects, was “Rens Den.” Short, sweet, and easy to remember. But would it peek the interest of writers? I don’t know. Would it be too simple or paint the wrong mental picture? I guess we will never know. “Savant Prizant,” however, I feel speak on many levels to my aspirations and myself, my goals as a human, and more specifically as a woman, and even more specifically, as an aspiring copywriter. So welcome, one and all, to what I hope will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
